Regular Fiesta Sport Trophy Competitor Stephen Wright, 20 from Monaghan took a controlled victory in this seasons opener leading from the first stage and taking 5 stage wins along the way. Stephen who Returns for his third season in the Fiesta ST once again prepared by David Greer Motorsport will face competition from the newly launched Fiesta R2 which runs alongside the ST in the Trophy.
Stephen’s composed victory fulfilled the potential he has shown in Previous years always fighting for podium finishes and stage victorys. The Fiesta Event which follows the Irish Tarmac Championship is run on the First day with the option for competitors to complete the Full event.
Wright opted to complete the whole event and finished inside the top 20 in 19th Place setting top 15 times along the way.
“It's great to finally get my first fiesta win under my belt, the car never missed a beat all weekend, the Pirelli tyres performed brilliantly in the treacherous conditions and Paul did a top job on the notes. I was fortunate that Stephen and Dara had problems on the 6th stage as I'm sure it would have been a close race. Hopefully we can carry this form into round 2 and come away with another good points haul” commented Stephen at the end of the event.
