On Wednesday 20th May, with the world's media present, M-Sport, the team responsible for the Ford Manufacturer campaign in the World Rally Championship, announced their latest competition Car.
Following on from successful one make championship cars (notably the Ford KA and current model Ford Fiesta ST, which have seen many national championships with close competition), M-Sport have launched their first car aimed at the Global market. The car designed to comply with the new Class R2 rules to rival Ford's main WRC challengers Citroen’s similar specification Class R2 Car and is based on the new 2008 shape Ford Fiesta.
The car will be sold in a kit form similar to the aforementioned Fiesta ST, which will include everything required for converting a road car into full rally trim. Continuing on the successful relationship with Reiger suspension, the Ford Fiesta R2 has kept and further developed all the strong points that made the Fiesta ST so popular world over.
David Greer Motorsport, who joined the Fiesta SportingTrophy in the UK and world stage in 2006, have earned a reputation for preparing top class Fiesta's during the last four years, having worked with Over 15 drivers from 6 different countries and securing two championship titles along the way, the 2007 FST International and the 2007 FST UK.
The scheduled release date for the kit is in mid-August, for more information on the car visit www.fiestar2.com.
